About

René Twigge is recognised as one of Sydney's top contemporary artists, skilfully combining fine art and digital technology to produce a vividly dynamic collection. Her work orbits around the omnipresent theme of nature—capturing its splendour, growth, and decay, manifested in diverse hues and forms.

"Nature and colour are my muses. Botanical forms, textures, and hues serve as wellsprings of inspiration, guiding my exploration of their visual possibilities through digital means."

Twigge's captivating artworks are distinguished by an eclectic dance of colours, infusing harmony and fervor into the nexus of nature and technology. Working into the wee hours, when sunlight retreats and tranquillity envelops her surroundings, Twigge meticulously assembles and disassembles layers of paint strokes and botanical photographs, imbuing her distinctive artwork with vivacity and dynamism.

Central to Twigge's creations is the play of contrasts and the metamorphosis of natural elements into digital realms, revolving around the focal image of a flower. Though seemingly organic, these compositions belie the intricate digital crafting behind them. Photographing flowers in their natural habitat, Twigge reimagines them on the computer, layering colours and shapes to rearrange them entirely. Vibrant petals pop against dark backdrops, heightening the visual drama.

Since her studies at the Central University of Technology in South Africa, Twigge has been entranced by the symbiotic interplay of technology and the environment. Her works have graced solo and group exhibitions across Australia, South Africa, and Singapore, perpetually captivating audiences with her digitally-infused botanical wonders.
